Our Story
Grover and Pals was inspired by a very special guy. I found Grover while I was bored at work, scrolling Craigslist. He had been attacked by a dog, and the woman who found him had to pour hot water on him just to peel him off the frozen ground. I already had two cats in a small apartment and had no intention of getting another, but once I saw him, I knew I had to take him in.
He was the wonkiest guy. He was missing teeth, so his tongue always hung out, and he had a crooked snaggle tooth that stuck out of his mouth. Despite everything, he was incredible. He loved everyone unconditionally and was always there when I needed a buddy.
Taking him in changed things for me. It made me realize there are animals like Grover everywhere and Grover and Pals started with the simple idea of helping more of them. It’s been evolving ever since.
Our Mission
Grover and Pals began with a broad purpose, helping animals however we could, and over time that has evolved into a clear focus: supporting shelters in underdeveloped countries and the people who run them under genuinely hard conditions. We connect you to a specific animal by name at one of our partner shelters. You sponsor them, and your monthly contribution goes straight to the shelter caring for them, the way you’d help a friend rather than send money into a general fund and hope.
Every dollar of a sponsorship goes straight to the partner shelter, and we don’t take a cut. Running Grover and Pals itself does cost something, though, and none of that comes out of sponsorship funds. If you believe in what we’re building, you can support our operating expenses directly. That gift keeps the bridge between sponsors and shelters standing, so every sponsorship dollar can keep going exactly where it should.
