# Sponsorship Terms & Conditions

These Sponsorship Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your sponsorship relationship with Grover and Pals NFP (“Grover and Pals,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), an Illinois not-for-profit corporation and 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization (EIN: 92-3542169). By completing a sponsorship through groverandpals.com, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not proceed with sponsorship. Questions can be directed to info@groverandpals.com.

## 1. About Grover and Pals
Grover and Pals connects donors with rescue animals at our partner shelters in Nepal, India, and other regions. Each sponsorship is built around a specific named animal, giving sponsors a personal connection to that animal’s story while supporting the broader mission of helping animals in need.
Grover and Pals NFP is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3). Contributions to Grover and Pals are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.

## 2. Nature of Sponsorship
When you sponsor an animal through Grover and Pals, your contribution operates on three levels:
– **Legally:** it is an unrestricted charitable gift to Grover and Pals, used to advance our mission and support animal welfare.
– **Operationally:** Grover and Pals generally uses sponsorship funds to support the partner shelter caring for the named animal you have chosen, including food, medical care, daily operations, and the broader needs of that shelter. However, all sponsorship contributions remain unrestricted charitable gifts to Grover and Pals and may be used where needed to further our charitable mission.
– **Personally:** it gives you a connection to a specific animal’s story, with optional monthly updates and acknowledgments.
Sponsorships are voluntary charitable contributions. They are not payments for goods or services, do not confer ownership or any control over animals, and do not create any legal relationship between you and our partner shelters.

## 3. Partner Shelters
Grover and Pals partners with independent shelters and rescue organizations. We do not own, operate, manage, or control our partner shelters, their facilities, their staff, or the animals in their care.
All animal updates, photos, videos, and status information are provided by our partner shelters. We make reasonable efforts to share accurate and timely information with sponsors, but we rely on our partners for the information they provide.

## 4. Recurring Payment Authorization
Sponsorships are recurring monthly contributions. By completing a sponsorship, you authorize Grover and Pals and our payment processors, including Stripe and PayPal, to charge your selected payment method on a monthly basis at the sponsorship tier you select, until you cancel.
The amount, billing frequency, and recurring nature of your sponsorship will be disclosed at checkout before you submit your payment.
You may update your payment method at any time by logging into your account on groverandpals.com or by contacting us at info@groverandpals.com.

## 5. Cancellation
You may cancel your sponsorship at any time, for any reason, with no fees or penalties.
To cancel:
– Log into your account on groverandpals.com and cancel from your subscription page, **or**
– Email us at info@groverandpals.com and we will process your cancellation promptly.
If you cancel through your online account, cancellation will take effect immediately. If you cancel by email, cancellation will take effect once we process your request. No future charges will be made after your cancellation has been processed.

## 6. Refunds
As a charitable donation, sponsorship contributions are generally non-refundable. However, we will refund:
– Duplicate or erroneous charges
– Charges made without your authorization
– Charges processed after a valid cancellation request has been received and processed
To request a refund, contact info@groverandpals.com within 60 days of the charge.
Refunds will be issued to the original payment method whenever possible.

## 7. Failed Payments
If a scheduled payment fails, for example due to an expired card or insufficient funds, our payment processor may automatically retry the payment over the following days according to its standard schedule. You may also receive an email notification.
If we are unable to process your payment after multiple attempts, your sponsorship may be paused or cancelled. You can resume sponsorship at any time by updating your payment method.

## 8. Decisions About Animal Care
All decisions about an animal’s care, including medical treatment, housing, foster or adoption placement, transfer, and end-of-life decisions, are made exclusively by our partner shelters and their authorized professionals, based on the best interests of the animal.
Sponsors do not have the right to direct, influence, approve, or veto such decisions.
Sponsorship does not guarantee:
– Access to or interaction with any specific animal
– Adoption eligibility, priority, or matching
– Specific outcomes regarding an animal’s care, placement, health, or length of time in shelter care

## 9. When a Sponsored Animal Leaves Care
Animals leave shelter care for many reasons. Most often, this is the joyful outcome of adoption, but animals may also leave care through transfer, foster placement, or, sadly, illness or death.
We receive regular updates from our partner shelters about animals in their care. If the animal you have sponsored leaves care for any reason, we will notify you by email within a reasonable timeframe and offer you the choice to:
– Continue your sponsorship by selecting another animal in need
– Pause your sponsorship
– End your sponsorship
If we do not receive a response within 30 days of notification, your sponsorship will continue at the same tier and will support the general animal-care needs of the partner shelter that was caring for the animal you originally sponsored.
You may cancel, pause, or select another animal at any time by contacting us at info@groverandpals.com.

## 10. Sponsor Updates and Acknowledgments
At checkout, you can opt in to:
– **Monthly updates** about the animal you have sponsored, sent by email
– **Instagram acknowledgment** recognizing your sponsorship on our Instagram account
While we make reasonable efforts to provide monthly updates when sponsors opt in, updates may vary based on partner shelter availability, animal status, local conditions, emergencies, and communication limitations. Sponsorship does not guarantee a specific number, format, or frequency of updates.
If you opt in to an Instagram acknowledgment, you authorize Grover and Pals to publicly acknowledge your sponsorship using the name, username, or handle you provide. You may change or withdraw this preference at any time by emailing info@groverandpals.com.
Regardless of your communication preferences, we will send transactional emails related to your sponsorship, including payment confirmations, account notifications, annual tax acknowledgments, and important updates to these Terms or our services.

## 11. Tax Treatment
Grover and Pals NFP is recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) (EIN: 92-3542169). Contributions to Grover and Pals are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
No goods or services of substantial value are provided in exchange for sponsorship contributions. Sponsor updates, acknowledgments, and similar communications are provided solely as incidental donor communications and are not intended to reduce the deductible amount of your contribution.
We will provide an annual tax acknowledgment summarizing your contributions for the year. Please consult your tax advisor regarding the deductibility of your specific contributions.

## 12. Privacy
Your personal information is handled according to our [Privacy Policy](https://groverandpals.com/privacy-policy/), which describes what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. By completing a sponsorship, you also agree to our Privacy Policy.

## 13. Modifications to These Terms
We may update these Sponsorship Terms & Conditions from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active sponsors by email and posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
Continued sponsorship after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

## 14. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to conflict of laws principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your sponsorship will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Cook County, Illinois.

## 15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
